Taming of the Few

The Snake Charmer, Henri Rousseau, 1907

A portal to a dream,
saturated colors,
flat forms
long smooth lines.

Inspiration jarred
on the farm,
imagination charmed
in moonlit streams.

Taming of the few
who choose to unleash
the beauty of
their dreams.

  1. I read this poem many times because it said so much and so elegantly but I got the feeling there was something that needed adjustment, so because it is so good I decided to tell you what I think.
I find ‘dream’ in the first line detracts from the power of the last lines which are wonderful as they are, but… maybe a poem is never finished.
