This poet’s eyes
shall see in dark
blackest shadows
to prowl in parks
This writer’s nose
can smell fresh death
starving ravens
vie for sparse flesh
Her bloodless heart
beats smooth as stone
lips cannot speak
but only moan
A blackened quill
ink from the moon
she weaves a yarn
from Edgar’s loom
Stark raving mad
she screams at night
ranting tantrums
for lightning strikes
She named her art
a Franken-poem
like Mary Shelley
in neon chrome
Creating life
from breathless words
IT’S ALIVE
IT’S MOVING
A newborn verse
Henry! I LOVE this…and what a fantastic image as well! See what you mean…great minds, eh? Claudia also danced the dark stuff this week…an awesome write if you haven’t checked it out already. I so enjoy dark and dVerse! lol Truly thought this was wonderful…THIS is what I love about poetry 🙂
Brilliant piece and so accurate, Henry!!! One of my favorites.
ha – you’re on the dark side as well tonight henry…awesome piece…you created life from breathless words..and left me a bit breathless as well…
Love the image and the grittier feel to it. Can be so much fun in the darkside, nicely done!
Do you know Sarah Dolby ? :))) Let me know if you do…
Love its originality: Edgar’s loom & Mary Shelley in neon chrome: sends the world in words reeling to the edges.. Gorgeous match of words to image and such subtle decadence.. 🙂

from Edgar’s loom
…. yes, these my favourite lines… wonder where this one came from?
nice piece Henry
like mary shelley in chrome…ha…nice…def been reading a bit o poe…like me a little undead poetry you know…smiles.
I like the birth of the verse…very creative piece of writing ~
I really enjoyed reading Frankenstein years ago… Excellent piece!
Oh this is so nice… nice image and the way you have mixed words in dark layers…
this is by far my favorite poem of the night…brilliant. You create a scene that comes alive with each word…bravo
..sharp imagery in a dark tone! Is this a reincarnation of words? i felt this being written a long time ago and just re-righting again itself to fulfill a missing desire. well done!
~Kelvin
A wonderfully phantasmagoric piece Henry. Great write. // Peter.
ha – love the madness, the horror, the sweet darkness of creation – all of which I experience each time I write. “she weaves a yarn
from Edgar’s loom” love that!
ink from the moon and woven onto Edgar’s loom are awesome images to me! Edgar smiles at you.
Fresh death, eh? I like those 2 words together like that.
Very tongue-in-cheek dark fun in this.
Oh these is great…the Franken -poem…also reminded me of the mad wife in the attic of Jane Erye…also reminded me of Halloween..bkm
Ooohh.. and I like where she’s going with her creation!! Her hunger for creativity is dark.. but sooooo alive and intense!!
Loved this one, Henry!
smart and successful your work is always a pleasure to read henry for all its neat connatations
all the best
Clever! I like the way you undercut the accumulating horror images at the end, turning it all humorous.
Henry I really loved this from start to end, the rhyme and flow perfectly harmonious. I loved reading this aloud. Coupled with the image, the senses were alive in this read. Really well penned and I wanted to thank you for all your recent comments on my poetry. I appreciate you dearly ~ Rose

“she weaves a yarn

This line was fabulous!
*off to read more of your blog*
Dead on, Henry. The rhyming works nicely.

I like this poem. Very Poe(ish). I’m originally from Baltimore, so Poe is our local hero. Also, the picture is a great compliment to the writing.
Henry, from the blackened quill and Edgar Allen Poe to Mary Shelley, this was a winner. Thanks for turning me on to Dolby’s art as well, via your credit.
This came together like a neatly-stitched creature. Loved it, in all its detail. Amy
